WHAT TO WEAR ON A CITY BREAK

Whether you're popping off for a long weekend or an extended week away, a city break is the perfect holiday to show off your summer wardrobe. Sure, laying on a beach all day in your best bikini is great, but when you've spent weeks curating the ultimate off-duty-but-really-on-duty wardrobe, you need to show it off.

The first port-of-call for wandering pretty sun-kissed streets is a good selection of neutrals. Not only to combat the heat (thank you science for teaching me that white keeps you cooler), but you can't go wrong with head-to-toe tonal colours. Think crisp whites with creams and beiges, ecrus with khakis and nudes. These combinations always look so chic and expensive, even when worn simply in t-shirt and jeans.

Next to pack is your city shorts, more long-line than a short-short, this style bridges the gap between effortless and on-duty. Paired best with loose cotton tees, bodysuits and boyfriend-fit shirts. These are more important to take with you than your passport.

When packing dresses, think slip dresses or oversized shapes in lightweight fabric. Again, you have to factor in roaming landmarks and streets all day and nobody wants to look hot and bothered on their Insta pics. Puff sleeve and voluminous dresses are so of the moment right now, plus won't cling to you in stuffy countries. Slip dresses never go out of style and are skimming enough to keep you looking and feeling cool.

Finally, invest in comfy footwear. Ideally, the dad sandal. He's re-emerged after a long time in hiding, but has proven that he will go with whatever outfit you throw at him AND are super comfy. Trust me, I've tried and tested...
