WAYS TO MAKE A WEEKEND IN LOCKDOWN MORE FUN

With 2020 seeing Groundhog Day come to life, it's so easy to get swept up in doing the same thing all the time, especially given that we're currently living under tight restrictions to our freedom. That being said, there's no reason at all why you can't still enjoy yourself doing the things you used to do pre-corona. You just have to get a little creative with the logistics...

ATTEND A BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH

Who said bottomless brunches could only be enjoyed in restaurants? If anything, experiencing them from home is all the more fun due to no travel arrangements and you can wear whatever you want. Hello pyjamas. The cost is cheaper too, and you can have whatever you want to eat. I'm sold. Whether you're enjoying it with your flatmates or over a Zoom call, get down to your local supermarket, stock up on the essentials (prosecco, and lots of it) and let the good times roll.

GO ON HOLIDAY

Chances are, we won't be going on holiday this year (sob), and while this is pretty devastating on paper, in theory, it can totally be worked around. If you have access to a garden (or even a beach- lucky you), you can soak up the sun as you would in Spain. Better still, cook classic dishes from your favourite holiday destination, and experience some of the local culture via YouTube/ travel documentaries or by getting creative with your research. You never know, this could be your best holiday yet.

ENJOY A CINEMA TRIP

The cinema is always a great way to spend a Saturday night or lazy Sunday afternoon, but just because they're not open, doesn't mean you have to go without your fix. Close with curtains, make the sofa super comfy and buy in all your favourite cinema snacks (without the extortionate cinema prices), and watch old or new films on streaming services. You can also watch films with those you're not isolating with via NetflixParty.com, so what more could you need?

GO TO A FESTIVAL

Trust me, it can be done. If you're lucky enough to have an outdoor space to hand, then dress up in your best festival outfits, charge up a speaker and listen to your favourite bands perform set after set. All without the worry of getting pushed and shoved in a crowd. If rain has forecast for your mini day festival, gather round your TV and stream your favourite performances from previous shows. Get burgers and hot dogs cooking, with a few beers to hand and it's just like being at Glastonbury.

UNLEASH YOUR INNER CREATIVE

Thinking about that skill you said you would pick up when you had the chance? Well, now is the time. Whether that be learning to paint masterpieces, tie-dying everything in sight, making things for your room/house or simply honing your baking skills, dedicate a weekend to learning a new ability and reap the rewards. Plus, feel super smug about all the new things you'll be able to do.
