POSTCARDS FROM COPENHAGEN

A firm fashion favourite in Europe, Copenhagen is definitely high on everyone's travel lists. Despite influences from Amsterdam in the Christianshavn district and Japan in Tivoli Gardens, it's completely a world of it's own, with relaxed vibes and some of the best food I've ever eaten! I had the pleasure of being there for 3 days armed with a jam-packed itinerary (surely you can't city break without one?!) and these are my recommendations:

NYHAVEN

You really can't do Copenhagen without visiting the coloured buildings at Nyhaven. Yes, it will be full of like minded tourists, but it's undeniably picturesque and a bit of a suntrap. There are restaurants and bars all along the canal line, so there's no excuse not to stop for a tipple. There's a street food/outdoor drinks pop up towards one end of the canal too, plus a delicious pizzeria opposite the coloured buildings called Gorm's.

TIVOLI GARDENS

Tivoli Gardens is definitely a strange place, but one to tick off the list. It's a theme park and Japanese Gardens all rolled one, which doesn't sound like it should work, but it does...? It's incredibly picturesque and if you're committed to the rides, then a fun day out. It's particularly gorgeous at night when lit up.

VESTERBRO

Hands down the best place for food in the city. Vesterbro is home to the meat packing district which has been turned into a bar and restaurant hot spot. Reminiscent of the Northern Quarter in Manchester or Camden/Soho in London, there's so many interesting eateries and bars to take your fancy. Also in the Vesterbro area is brunch spot Mad & Kaffe, here you tick off the small plates you want and hand it in. It's breakfast tapas at it's finest and honestly delicious. For an evening meal, Madklubben is a hit; reasonably priced 3 course dining, with a great atmosphere and one of the best starters I've ever eaten (I recommend the Burratta Salad) .

CHRISTIANSHAVN

You would be forgiven for thinking you were in Amsterdam when visiting this part of town. Situated on the canal, it's beautiful and full of hip cafes. Whether you're cycling and just walking around, there's so many quirky and hidden things to see on the colourful streets. If you don't mind heights, it's worth climbing 95FT up the Church of Our Saviour to take in breathtaking views of the terracotta buildings. The stairs literally do just stop though, so it's quite surreal.

BOTANICAL GARDENS

The Botanical Gardens are simply gorgeous, and I imagine even more so in full bloom in the Summer. Free to wander around, or you can pay to go in the greenhouses, they're incredibly tranquil and peaceful. Great for a Sunday afternoon stroll or picnic!
